Rampage drop season opener on the road 6-1 to Kitimat

The Prince Rupert Rampage started their 2012-13 season on Saturday on a losing note with the host Kitimat Ice Demons pouring on the goals for a 6-1 victory, in front of 650 fans at  Kitimat's Tamitik Arena.

The Rampage fell behind early and couldn't pick up the gap as they fell to a 3-1 deficit after the first period, Kitimat added two goals in the second and a final marker in the third to claim victory.

The Rampage were shut out in periods two and three, but remained close in shots on goal but couldn't find the answer in their season debut.

The Ice Demons took advantage of penalties, scoring once on their seven opportunities, the Rampage however could not take advantage of their eight extra man opportunities.

The season opener marks the first of an extended five game road trip for the Rampage.

Owing to the early season difficulties with ice at the Prince Rupert Civic Centre, the Rampage will be road warriors through October and into November.

They next see action on Saturday, October 13 when they travel to Lac La Hache to face the Tomahawks, followed by a Sunday afternoon game on the 14th in Williams Lake.
