Another knock in the night for Haida Gwaii

For the most part, the last month or so has been a fairly peaceful bit of time for residents of Haida Gwaii, the earth underneath having settled down since the October 27th earthquake that registered at 7.7 magnitude.

Wednesday night, a subtle reminder perhaps, that the earth is quite finished in shifting some of the plates around that run up and down the Pacific Coast.

An earthquake initially rated at 5.0 rattled a few dishes and such at 9:28 PM, later downgraded to a 4.4 magnitude, the quake was felt mainly in the Masset, Sandspit and Skidegate areas of the Islands.

No damage was anticipated from the temblor and it was considered to be just another after shock from the much larger event of October 27th.

No tsunami warning was generated by the Wednesday night event.
