Devin Oakes called up to Kamloops Blazers for playoffs

North Coast fans of the Western Hockey League will have an extra reason to follow the fate of the Kamloops Blazers in the playoffs this season, as former Prince Rupert resident and PRMHA player Devin Oakes has been called up by the WHL team for the remainder of the year.

Oakes, who was playing with the Blazers development team the Storm, received the word today that he was to join the Blazers roster for the playoffs, an opportunity that could lead to a berth in the Memorial Cup, the Championship for Junior A hockey in Canada.

He last saw action with the Blazers in January and rejoins the Blazers after compiling a record of 8 goals and 13 assists for the Storm.

The Blazers begin their playoff season against the Victoria Royals, with the first game of the Best of Seven series set for March 22nd at Kamloops.

Blazer games are available through an audio feed with CHNL in Kamloops, while Webcasts are available on a pay per listen basis.

Those with Shaw Satellite Dishes can also keep an eye out for WHL playoff action on the Shaw Community Channel 299.
