Candidates you're on the clock

For the six candidates seeking public office in this 2013 by-election campaign, tonight is a big night.

Providing for the only public forum of the campaign, set for 7 PM tonight at the Lester Centre of the Arts.

Sponsored by the Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce, the Forum offers the six candidates running to replace Jennifer Rice on Council, perhaps their best opportunity to make an impression on the voters for the November 16th by-
election.

The six, Barry Cunningham, Larry Golden, James Kirk, Len Lovering, Wade Niesh and Gurvinder Randhawa for the most part have limited much of their campaign thus far to the placement of election signs around the city.

Tonight, all six will receive the opportunity to expand on what they believe are the key issues for the community and how they will make a difference should they be successful in the by-election.

So far the campaign has flown a little under the radar of most, not offering for much in the way of information or buzz. Hopefully, all six will engage with the audience this evening, delivering their thoughts on the current Council and how they hope to contribute to it.

Doors to the forum open at 6:30, the discussion starts at 7 PM.

The election forum however, does put us into the home stretch of the by-election campaign. Last week, we outlined some background on the advance polling opportunities for the by-election, which you can review here.
