Council will receive a report on the topic from the City's Corporate Administrator Cory Mandryk, who will provide some background on the situation and offer up the snapshot of the By-law to be considered.
Following his report, Council will then begin the process of introducing and giving first, second and third readings to what is being called the Non-Motorized Wheeled Conveyance Helmet By-law (3343, 2014)
The bylaw has been developed in conjunction with the RCMP to allow for enforcement on both City streets and sidewalks.
The theme of safety on the roads from those on skateboards, long boards and bicycles has been an ongoing discussion at City Council sessions, with much debate and information sessions provided both at Council sessions and at a public meeting last fall.
The move to introduce the Bylaw will be up for discussion towards the end of tonight's session, you can review some of the particulars to the bylaw from tonight's Agenda package (Page 31)
