Special Weather statement issued for North Coast

Update:  Statement Updated to continue with a Snowfall Warning at 3:30 PM Tuesday

Our long lasting cold snap, which has brought Arctic air to the Northwest for the last week or so, will soon be moving on.

However as the transition period takes place, snow and freezing rain is in the forecast for all regions of the North Coast and Northwest.

Environment Canada issued as Special Weather Statement for North Coast Inland sections on Sunday morning, advising that indications at the moment suggest the potential of up to 10 cm of snow by Monday evening through the region.

Updated at 3:30 PM Tuesday: Calling for Inland sections to receive accumulations of 10 to 20 cm of snow into Wednesday morning.

The full Special Weather Statement/Snowfall warning can be found here.

For the North Coast, the weather system will change rapidly towards rain by Monday afternoon, with the cold temperatures of the last week giving way to warmer conditions and temperature steadily rising towards the end of the week. The thermometer is expected to reach the 7 degree mark by Friday.

Updates as the Pacific front arrives and the Arctic conditions retreat, factors which will dictate the amount of precipitation by way of snow or freezing rain for the region, can be found from the Environment Canada website.
