This week the Charles Hays Senior Boys Rainmakers season comes down to but four games.
The last sixteen quarters of a year long journey that has taken Mel Bishop's team through a pair of high profile lower mainland tournaments, countless road trips across northern British Columbia and on to the Northwest zone championship in Smithers a little over a week ago.
After a hard fought final battle with rival Caledonia, securing a 51-41 victory, the Rainmakers claimed their zones title and then got right back into the prep work. Working on their game plan for one of British Columbia's premiere sporting events, the AAA Provincial Championships in Langley.
With an impressive starting five and some very deep bench strength, the Rainmakers have proven to be a scoring threat, no matter who is rotated in and out on the floor over the course of a game.
The victory over Caledonia in Smithers, no doubt provided the right test at the right time for Charles Hays, making for the opportunity to build on their momentum of February and now, to take it to a larger stage.
The strength of their zone's victory was their defensive play and that's a aspect of this tournament that the Rainmakers will need to stay with. Stepping up their game to match up with some of the name schools of BC Basketball.
The Rainmakers open up the first of their four days in Langley on Wednesday morning, with the path to a potential provincial banner starting with an 8:30 match up with Surrey's Fleetwood Park.
