School District 52 to decide on extended Spring Break question on March 25th

The great debate over a  one week spring break or a two week break will come to an end on March 25th, when School District 52 holds a special Open board meeting on the topic.

As we outlined on the blog back in February, the School District has been giving consideration to expanding the Spring Break to an extra week, adding the missed time to the school day in the remainder of the year.

The two proposed calendars have been submitted to the School District's partner groups of the PRDTU, Parent Advisory Council and the Aboriginal Education council.

The topic has generated a fair bit of discussion in the community since it was first introduced in February, with many weighing the pros and cons of an extended break through the Spring.

Key to some of those with concerns, is the nature of the make up time and what format that it would take during the remainder of the school year.

Parents with concerns on that or questions on the proposal will have their last opportunity to weigh in on the topic when the Board meets on the 25th.

We have more items of note on Education in the Northwest available from our Education Archive.
