RCMP investigating suspicious deaths on city's east side

RCMP in Prince Rupert are investigating what is being called a pair of suspicious deaths on the east side of the city on Thursday afternoon.

RCMP members were dispatched to a residence on the 500 block of Eberts Street shortly after 5:20 on Thursday afternoon and upon arrival discovered the two deceased bodies, one a woman the other a teenage boy.

As part of the investigation into the circumstances from the incident, members of both North District Major Crime Unit and the Prince Rupert General Investigation Section have been called in and are leading the investigation which continues.

Constable Matt Ericson of the Prince Rupert detachment outlined that at the moment "it is to early to speculate as to the circumstances that led to the deaths of these two people", but stressed that the RCMP is confident in stating that it is an isolated incident and that there is no risk to the community.

Further details on the investigation will be released as it progresses.

The RCMP asks that if anyone has information on the Eberts Street incident that they contact the RCMP at 250-627-0700 or through CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
