Rainmakers look to make their mark at North Shore Invitational

With the latest AAA rankings placing the Charles Hays Rainmakers as the number three basketball team in the province, the CHSS squad heads into this weekends North Shore Invitational Tournament as a team to watch.

As we outlined on the blog yesterday, the Rainmakers have been making a steady rise in the Provincial rankings in the last month, as the Vancouver Province has increased their ranking with each new reconfiguration of the basketball listings.

From seventh, to sixth and yesterday a third spot in the provincial rankings which highlights the attention that Mel Bishop's team is receiving from the basketball observers in the south.

Last night the Rainmakers had a tune up game for this weekend's tournament, as they topped the only team that has travelled farther for the North Shore Tourney, as CHSS picked up a 66-35 victory over Yellowknife, NWT.

Today, however the focus turns to the launch of the North Shore event, with the Rainmakers taking to the Gym at North Vancouver's Carson Graham Secondary, for  a 4 PM tip off  in their tournament opener against Victoria's Belmont Secondary.

Sixteen teams are entered in the popular proving ground of the North Shore tourney, with the championship game set for Saturday night at 7:30. A match up that the Rainmakers would like to make a reservation for as the weekend moves on.
