Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards Nomination Period Now Open


It's Nomination time in thirteen categories for the local commercial class, as the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce seek out your suggestions for those businesses that have gone above and beyond in the last year to help make Prince Rupert a better place to be.

Among the categories up for nomination are:

Business of the Year 
(For those that have demonstrated excellence through positive growth, superior customer service and outstanding commitment to quality, this nomination is for those companies with over 25 employees and in operation for over three years)

Rookie Business of the Year
(Nominations will be accepted for those businesses that have demonstrated excellence through positive growth, superior customer service and outstanding commitment to quality, nominated businesses must have been in operation for fewer than three years)

Small Business of the Year: Industry, Manufacturing and Transportation
(For the Industrial, Manufacturing or Transportation sectors and companies which have demonstrated excellence through positive growth, customer service and commitment to quality, the nomination is for those companies with fewer than 25 employees and in operation for over three years)

Small Business of the Year: Retail
(Nominations in this category will be to recognize those members of the retail sector that have demonstrated excellence through positive growth, superior customer service and outstanding commitment to quality, nominated businesses must have fewer than 25 employees and have been in operation for over three years)

Small Business of the Year: Hospitality, Tourism and Service
(This Nomination is to honour a business in the hospitality or tourism sector that has demonstrated excellence through positive growth, superior customer service and outstanding commitment to quality, the nomination is for those companies with fewer than 25 employees and in operation for over three years. It includes not-for-profit organizations operated by salaried staff)

Child Friendly Business of the Year
(Nominations are being accepted for those businesses that can demonstrate child-friendly practices designed to welcome families and children to the workplace and/or employ workplace policies and/or practices that support the ability of its employees to maintain a healthy work-family balance)

Aboriginal Business of the Year
(This Nomination seeks out those business that are majority Aboriginal owned and operated)

Excellence in Customer Service
(Nominations in this category will be seeking those businesses that provide exceptional and consistent Customer service)

Community Involvement Award
(The nominations for this award will be for a business that contributes significantly to recreation, amateur sports, arts and culture, education, charitable groups and business development or promotion in Prince Rupert)

Green Award
(Nominations will outline those businesses show appreciation for protecting the environment as a shared responsibility and make environmentally responsible decisions. Encourage energy conservation and encourage others to strive for clean air, water and land, as well as the sustainable use of renewable resources and work for the protection of special spaces)

Chamber Member of the Year
(The Nomination seeks out the Chamber Member that has made a significant and consistent contribution to the Chamber of Commerce throughout the year)

Volunteer Organization of the Year
(Nominations are being accepted that will recognize an outstanding community or charitable organization that operates primarily through the use of volunteers)

Newsmaker of the Year
(Nominations for this category will be seeking a Chamber Member that has generated significant news coverage)

You can access the Nomination form here, the Deadline for Nominations is January 21st at Midnight.

On line voting for those nominated will take place through February.  The deadline for voting is February 20th.

The Awards will be handed out on February 28th at the Prince Rupert And District Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Gala, to be held at the North Coast Meeting and Convention Centre.
