A focus on Seniors for Seafest

With a successful (and mostly) sunny Homecoming 2015 now in the rear view mirror (see our archive of related items here), the next item on Prince Rupert's social calendar will be Seafest, the prelude to summer festival that brings large crowds to the downtown and waterfront areas over the course of the weekend in June.

As always, it also provides for a chance to celebrate Seniors in the community and this year Friday, June 12th will be the day to acknowledge those in Prince Rupert who have reached their 75th year of age and 50th year in Prince Rupert.

The Highliner Inn will be the host venue for the Seafest Seniors Tea taking place from 1:30 to 3:30. Refreshments will be served at the event and plaques of recognition presented to the newest of 75/50 members in recognition of their contributions to the community,

Prince Rupert's Highliner Inn
on First Avenue West will
host the Senior's Tea this year
The event is organized by the Prince Rupert Special Events Society and co-sponsored by the City of Prince Rupert.

General Admission for the afternoon Tea is 4 dollars.

Though if a member of the 75/50 Club, the day is yours, the admission is free.

As they make their preparations for the celebration of Seniors, the City is seeking the names of those that could be considered for inclusion on the list for this year.

If you know someone who qualifies for membership (75 years of gage and having lived in Prince Rupert for 50 years) you are asked to contact Carla Harvey, Administrative Assistant at 250-627-0934

We'll have more items related to the 37th annual Seafest events as we get closer to the highly anticipated weekend, which this year runs from June 12-14.
