Blog Watching, Week ending May 17, 2015

LNG issues were among those most closely followed from our blog postings of the past week, with two items of note gaining strong interest over the course of the last seven days.

The item that tracked high numbers was the notification from the province of progress for the WCC LNG proposal for Tuck Inlet.

As well, as our overview of LNG developments related to the vote from Lax Kw'alaams built up a fast growing audience towards the end of the week.

City Council items also attracted an interested following through the week. With reviews of Council's Spring Update, an increase for the Mayor's salary and Council's plans for the hiring of additional staff for city operations all finding a large audience as the week came to an end.

However, leading off the review for the week just passed, some background on an announcement from the Province's Environmental Assessment Office on the path ahead for WCC LNG.

Council's Spring Update outlines plans for spending and growth, adding a few surprises along the way  -- A look at some of the key aspects of Prince Rupert City Council's Spring Update which was released to the public on Monday (posted May 12, 2015)

City Hall ... Soon to be the new Hiring Hall for the North Coast -- The Spring Update delivered by Council heralds the start of what appears to be an accelerated hiring plan for staff positions with the City, we outlined some of the progress on that so far (posted  May 15, 2015)

Lax Kw'alaams Council: 'Open for Business ... it is not open to development proximate to Flora Bank'  -- A statement from the Lax Kw'alaams Band Council detailing its response to the recent vote on a Benefits proposal from Petronas became one of the most discussed topics of the week, our review of some of the background. (posted May 15, 2015)

Third time's the charm for Mayoralty pay bump ... --  With a 17,000 dollar a year pay increased included as part of Monday's Spring Update, we look back at the path that Council took to put the increase in place.  (posted May 14, 2015 )
