MLA's week: May 11-14, 2015

A statement on the services provided by speed and audio professionals in British Columbia, as well as a heated commentary on a case file with the Ministry of Children and Family Development made for the main focus for the Legislature work for North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice this week.

As we do at the end of each week of the Legislature session, we outline some of the main notes of interest from the North Coast MLA's work week.

Ms. Rice was listed twice  in the archive of participants for the nineteen sessions of the Legislature in the House, or those related to House Committee work listed for the week of May 11-14..

Tuesday she rose in the Chamber to provide a statement of support to towards the work of those professionals that provide speech and hearing services across British Columbia.

Wednesday, the North Coast MLA joined a number of other NDP MLA's to make inquiries of Cabinet Minister Stephanie Cadieux, seeking information on the death of an infant in the care of the Ministry of Children and Families.

As for her regular committee work, MLA Rice is a member of the Standing Committee on Children and Youth.

There were no sessions of that committee scheduled for this week.

The Legislature will now take a one week break, with MLA's returning to work on Monday May 25th.

When the MLA's do return to the Legislature chamber, one item that most likely will be the focus of discussion will be a review of a report delivered this past week by the Representative for Children and Youth.

You can learn more about some of the findings of Mary Turpel-Lafond's report from our item here.

There is more background on the North Coast MLA available from our MLA's Week archive as well as our General Archive on the Legislature.
