Prince Rupert's New Fire Rescue vehicle arrives

Sharp eyed Rupertites may be noticing a shiny new Fire Department vehicle travelling the streets over the next few days. With the Prince Rupert Fire Rescue Department now appearing to have taken possession of a new addition for the fleet.

The first appearance of the new apparatus was highlighted on twitter this afternoon, with a snapshot of the Fire Rescue Truck parked at the 1st Avenue West Fire Station.

The truck purchase which was approved by City Council over a year ago, was reported at the time to come with a cost of 338,904 dollars and was to be built at the Rocky Mountain Phoenix factory in Red Deer Alberta.

It will replace the long serving Fire Rescue wagon, which as Fire Chief Dave McKenzie noted at last years presentation was already five years past its usable service date.
