Rivers Forecast Centre issues Flood Watch for Bulkley River

The spring run off, combined with warm May temperatures will have residents of the Smithers area keeping a watchful eye on the level of the Bulkley River this week.

As part of an advisory for Bulkley Valley residents, the province's River Forecast Centre has studied the latest data on flow rates and anticipated weather for the days ahead issuing a Flood Watch yesterday.

The advisory, which was delivered over the noon hour made note of the rising flow over recent days, with potential flood levels being reached in the Smithers area by today or tomorrow, with additional significant rises expected into the weekend.

You can review the Flood Watch advisory here.

In light of the Advisory from the Rivers Forecast Centre, the Town of Smithers issued this advisory to residents on Tuesday.

Further advisories for the Nechako River near Vanderhoof and Nautley River near Fort Fraser were issued as well.
