Rushbrook Boat Launch Facility closure extended

The reopening of the Rushbrook
Boat Launch facility will be
delayed by at least one week

Weather delays, working around the tides and construction conditions have all combined to delay the re-opening of the Rushbrook Boat Launch facility by at least a week, with the City of Prince Rupert announcing the extended closure today by way of a media release.

The project which started on October 1st was scheduled to have been completed yesterday, but the challenges of fall construction seem to have put the timetable to a bit of a test over the last six weeks.

The full closure of the facility has been in place since October 28th.

In their information update of today, the city noted that construction is moving along well, with 90 per cent of the work said to be complete, the new reopening date for the facility is now scheduled for Friday, November 13th.

As part of today's update the City noted that any use of the facility is not allowed during the final week of work that is ahead

"At no time is the public permitted to use the boat launch area. The long term viability of the project is dependent on the setting of the form work in this sensitive habitat area"

The alternate facility in the region for those looking to take to the water is the District of Port Edward's boat launch site, which is picking up the traffic from Prince Rupert while the City's project at Rushbrook continues.
