School District forwards 12 Capital Projects to Ministry of Education

Members of the Board of Education at School District 52 approved their revised capital budget for 2015, outlining at the November 10th meeting some of the details when it comes to the  projects they have submitted to the Ministry of Education.

Two School replacement projects have been forwarded to the Ministry, with the Prince Rupert Middle School Replacement plan and one for Conrad School at the top of the list when it comes to aging infrastructure within the School District.

SD52 also submitted their plan for their School Board Office Consolidation program, which would bring all of the administration services under one roof at the old Westview school site.

A number of other projects were provided for Ministry review, including  DDC Projects for Pineridge and Lax Keen School's, with a request for attention to the requirement for repairs to  Heaving Floors at Lax Kxeen also included in the capital projects requests.

While they await further word on the building replacement prospects for Conrad School, a more immediate concern is the need for replacement of the roof for the current building, that was included in the this years submission to the Ministry.

A project to improve the Charles Hays Secondary Telephone System was noted in the Capital budget, while three issues for the Booth Maintenance Building were included in this years financial plan.

Those consist of a Roof replacement project for the Booth building, as well as required work of the Maintenance Fire Protection system and the Dust Collection System within the building.

The District also submitted a replacement program for the District's School Bus options.

Not timeline was outlined in their information package as to when they might expect to hear word from the Ministry as to the status of their Capital Project submissions.
