Rainmakers Basketball hits the court as familiar rivals meet in Terrace

With a pre-season ranking of Number Five in the province, the Charles Hays Senior Boy's Basketball team will take to the court tonight, marking the first step in their plans to make their way to Langley in March for the Provincials.

The Rainmakers, a team which have become a fairly fascinating basketball story for the Lower Mainland sports media of late, will launch their 2015-16 campaign heading to Terrace this weekend.

The two days of Basketball start with a 6 PM match up between Smithers and Mount Elizabeth from Kitimat.

The weekend icebreaker is followed by the renewal of perhaps one of the fiercest of rivalries in the region with the Caledonia Senior Boys hosting the Rainmakers tonight for a 7:30 PM tip off at the Caledonia Gymnasium.

Saturday sees a full day of action set for Caledonia and Smithers launching Day Two at 10 AM.

The Rainmakers play Mount Elizabeth at 11:30 AM and then turn around with with a match up with Smithers following at 1:30 PM.

The day wraps up with Mount Elizabeth and Caledonia taking to the court at 3 PM.

The weekend of play with the Northwest squads will make for a pretty good measuring stick out of the gate for Mel and Ryan Bishop as they assess where this years Rainmakers are at as they head into a new season.

You can follow more on the Rainmakers from the CHSS Sports twitter feed.

Correction: original item indicated that the games were taking place in Prince Rupert, as we have quickly learned those games are in Terrace, our apologies for the confusion.
