Prince Rupert RCMP seek public's assistance in weekend Home Invasion case

As we noted on the blog earlier today, talk of a serious incident in the city's downtown area over the weekend has made for much in the way of discussion on the city's social media options in recent days.

Late Friday morning, Prince Rupert RCMP not only confirmed the incident, but provided some background on what can only be described as the horrific nature of the events in question from the weekend past.

Through their Prince Rupert Detachment website, the RCMP provided some more context to the notes offered previous through those social media channels, noting that the incident took place on January 3rd at approximately 8:20 in the evening in the 700 block of 2nd Avenue West.

The suspect or suspects entered the residence and attacked the lone 59 year old occupant of the home who suffered serious injuries requiring air transport to Vancouver for further treatment.

The investigation into the home invasion continues and as part of their work the RCMP is seeking the assistance of the public.

Asking that should those in the downtown area at the time have noticed anyone, or anything suspicious in 700 block area of the alley between 2nd Avenue West and 3rd Avenue West, to contact the local detachment.
