Rainmaker teams win one banner, come up just short of a second in weekend play

CHSS Jr Boys are Langley bound
after a weekend zones victory

The Charles Hays Junior Boys will be hanging another banner from the School Gym in the days to come, with the Junior Rainmakers  having claimed the NorthWest Zones over the weekend in tournament play in Smithers.

The Junior Boys next stop is Langley and the 2016 Telus Basketball Championships February 27 to March 1st at the Langley Events Centre.

The Senior Girls team from Charles Hays came up just a little short of their goal to claim a title this year, finishing second in their zones championship in Terrace on Saturday.

Three Rainmakers made quite the impression on the weekend however, with MVP' selections for CHSS going to Suttira Johansen, Ruby Mason and Brittany Waite.

The two teams from Charles Hays were not the only School District 52 representatives playing over a busy championship weekend, as two more Prince Rupert based teams had a successful weekend on the court.

The Prince Rupert Middle School Storm claimed some bragging rights for 2016 as the PRMS Boys team topped Skeena in the final held at the CHSS Gym. While the PRMS Girls squad also won their zone championship in Saturday play.

The Charles Hays Senior Boys Rainmakers, currently ranked at Number 8 in the province, will make their bid for their own Northwest Zones championship this weekend when they head off to Terrace.

A berth in the AAA Provincials in Langley is on the line in this weekend's Zones tournament.
