Northern Savings GIVES back to the community

Some of the recipients of
GIVE funding from
Northern Savings
Northern Savings Credit Union has a long history of community involvement, through sponsorship of Northwest events, or support for students and youth in both sport and educational opportunities across in communities where the financial institution has its branches.

Some of that support is through financial assistance and at other times its through a large number of hours of volunteer work from the staff and management of the Prince Rupert based Credit Union.

Last month, in celebration of the over 2,600 volunteer hours in support of 70 organizations through 2015 Northern Savings highlighted the seven Northwest Charities that were selected by staff to receive a donation through Northern Savings G.I.V.E program.

From their work through 2015, Seven Northwest Charities are now sharing in $2,250 of funding from Northern Savings

G.I.V.E, which stands for Get Involved in Volunteer Experiences, has been set up to provide staff members an opportunity to further share of their time with each member urged to track their volunteer hours with a draw held at the end of the year where they can direct the Northern Savings donation pool to the Charities of their choice.

“In 2015, our staff tracked over 2,600 hours and supported over 70 organizations including youth events and programs, literacy initiatives, community events and many more ... The results of the G.I.V.E. initiative, demonstrates that our employees truly live out our vision statement of Neighbours helping neighbours to build sustainable communities.” -- Northern Savings’ Interim CEO, Barry Delaney outlining the focus of the GIVE program in the Northwest
