Nothing to see here (soon) ... Shomi to shut down national streaming service

Residents of the North Coast who like to binge watch television programming and films through the Shomi service have but two more months to try and watch as much as they can.

The service announced plans to shut down the video streams as of November 1st, noting in a media release from Monday that they did not gain enough viewers across Canada to sustain the service.

The Shomi service launched into an industry that already featured products through iTunes, Netxflix and more recently Crave TV, the latter hosting a rather full catalogue of HBO and Showtime programming from those large providers.

Shomi never quite could attract the same volume of offerings and as Canadian viewers made their choices, the service found itself falling further and further behind their larger competition.
