Prestige Hotels Prince Rupert set to launch exterior makeover of downtown property

Some exterior upgrading is in the works
for the city's Prestige Prince Rupert Hotel
With the approval of City Council on Monday night for a development permit for the Prince Rupert Hotel, Prestige hotels which operates downtown location will now be free to launch an exterior makeover of the building to go with the extensive interior renovations of recent months.

City Planner Zeno Krekic outlined the scope of the $150,000 project which will include a new paint job for the downtown hotel and some new touches along the top of the building as Prestige Hotels prepares to introduce new signage and design touches.

Councillor Cunningham offered up a few comments related to the planned work on the hotel, seeking clarification on the city's regulations when it comes to colour schemes and other visual aspects of the proposed renovation.  He also noted that he thought that it was going to be a great addition to the city and recounted some of the work that he had noticed on the interior of the hotel when he took a tour during the Grand reopening.

A complete look at what the hotel operators have in mind can be found from the report available in the City's Agenda package on page 12.

Council then voted to move forward with the application and issued the development permit for the property.

You can review Mr. Krekic's presentation from the City's Video Archive starting at the 8 minute mark
