Terry Fox Run set for Sunday

One of the more popular fund raising events on the North Coast is set for this Sunday as the Annual Terry Fox Run takes place nationwide, with Northern Savings Credit Union on Third Avenue West serving as the start and finish line for this years Prince Rupert event.

In the lead up period to this weekend, residents of the North Coast have been collecting pledges for their individual runs or group efforts, included in that group has been long time Terry Fox Run participant Jim Terrion, the former Prince Rupert resident who returns to the North Coast each year to take part in the local event.

Mr. Terrion has received the BC community Achievement Award in recognition of his tireless efforts in support of the Terry Fox run and his dedication to raising awareness for the deaf and hearing impaired.

His efforts on behalf of the Terry Fox Run were highlighted by MLA Jennifer Rice back in 2014 as part of the discussion related to the Terry Fox Day act,  Ms. Rice shared some background on the work of Mr. Terrion with the members of the British Columbia Legislature.

The Credit Union which has been a long time supporter of the run will be taking registrations for this years event starting at the Noon hour on Sunday, the event is expected start at 1PM and to take less than two hours to complete and features both a runners route and a walkers route  for the Sunday excursion.

Participants can also choose to ride their bikes as part of the Sunday event.
