Blog Watching, Week ending October 2, 2016

The topic of LNG development in BC dominated the news for the North Coast this week, with the Federal Government's approval of the Pacific NorthWest LNG project, with its 190 conditions making for the majority of the news and commentary over the last seven days.

Such was the impact of Tuesday's announcement that four of the five of our week end review items have some connection to the LNG announcement, with only one story, our article looking at the renovations to the Prince Rupert airport managing to break the LNG hold on the news flow.

The LNG domination started with the review of the Federal Announcement and what comes next in the process, followed up by notes on the reaction to the decision from MP Nathan Cullen, as well as how the Metlakatla Governing Council and City of Prince Rupert both viewed Tuesday's news.

As well, readers found much to explore with our notes on the first Question Period in the House of Commons in the post approval days, with the Trudeau Liberals feeling heat from both the Conservative Opposition and the NDP.

The top story of the week however focused on the announcement, as North Coast residents dug into the approval statement and what it all may mean for the entire region.
