Blog Watching: Week ending December 18, 2016

The topic of LNG development returns to the top of our list of the five most read items this week, with our notes on the progress of the Aurora LNG proposal for Digby Island finding a large audience.

An update on a familiar story from years past also found some attention this week, as we took note of a major piece in a Hong Kong newspaper that has reviewed some of the legal travels of the Skeena Pulp Mill story.

Residents of the Westview area may soon see an increase in shipments out of the Pinnacle Pellet Terminal, as we outlined how Pinnacle has just signed a significant contract to ship pellets to Europe.

Dan Miller continues to bring attention to the importance of the provinces resource sector, with the former Premier and past MLA for the North Coast submitting an op-ed piece to the Vancouver Sun, with our notes on his thoughts attracting a large number of views through the week.

And wrapping up the list of five on the week was our item recounting the work of City Council in their last sessions for 2016, with a pair of meetings that set in motion utility fee increases for 2017, as well as some plans to address the city's asset management requirements.

However, the top story of the week is that of the Aurora LNG proposal for Digby Island which is making its way towards the evaluation process in 2017.

Federal funding provided for Indigenous participation in Aurora LNG CEAA process --  The process for evaluation of the Aurora LNG project at Digby Island is getting closer to moving forward, with federal funding made available for First Nation's in the region to participate. Our Tuesday item also noted some of the other themes on LNG development of the last few weeks. (posted December 13, 2016)
