Blog Watching: Week ending March 5, 2017


LNG items once again return to our list of the five most read articles for the week, with a look at the quest for a new Community Relations Manager at Pacific NorthWest LNG topping the list over the last seven days.

As well our review of the release of an information video by those living on Digby Island found a large audience this week, as readers explored more about the concerns from Dodge Cove related to the proposed Aurora LNG project proposed for Digby.

Also attracting a strong number of readers this week, was our look at the announcement out of Terrace that  planning for a replacement for Mills Memorial Hospital is now in motion.

North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice had a busy week of speech making and question asking at the Legislature, however the most popular of our notes on her week comes from her salute in the House Chamber offering her congratulations and support to the Charles Hays Senior Girls Basketball team.

And as always seems to be the case, the mere mention of the words Watson Island generates significant interest on the blog, this time from readers looking to learn more about the City of Prince Rupert's recent video presentation on the industrial site.

However, the top story of the week takes us to Third Avenue West, where we await further news of a new hire at the Pacific NorthWest LNG offices.

Provincial government offers nod of approval for replacement for Mills Memorial Hospital   -- BC Finance Minister Mike de Jong shared some much anticipated news with resident of Terrace this week, outlining the province's plans to replace Mills Memorial hospital. A decision which also captured the attention of the candidates seeking the North Coast seat in the legislature in this May's eleciton   (posted February 28 2017)

Digby Island residents release video; seek community participation in comment process on Aurora LNG --  The ongoing information campaign on LNG on the North Coast added a new video submission to the list, as residents of Dodge Cove make their case against the prospect of LNG development for Digby island . (posted March 1, 2017)

As long as the kids keep playing basketball, MLA Rice will have something to share with the Legislature -- North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice is putting together a pretty good audition video for Canada's sports networks, as she continues to keep the Legislature informed on the success of North Coast basketball teams, this time around focusing on the Charles Hays Senior Girls team.
