Children's Festival heads into its 26th year this Saturday

One of Prince Rupert's most popular events is but a day away, as the Prince Rupert Special Events Society takes care of the final details behind the 26th Annual Children's Festival.

The Day long event starts at 11 AM Saturday at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre, with a list of games and activities planned to keep everyone entertained through until 4 PM.

Volunteer driven, the Children's festival is one of the four major events that the Special Events Society hosts through the year, the March event traditionally attracting some 1500 children and their care givers to the Civic Centre.

The event is assisted by a number of community sponsors who step up each year to help make the event bigger and more adventurous each year.

Popular stops in years past have been the Bouncy Castles, Fish Pond, Climbing Wall and Imagination stations where youngsters can put their creativity to work. As well, there's a wide range of treats for kids and adults alike to help keep the energy levels high for the five hours of the Festival.

A look at some of the events line up for the day can be found below, though late additions mean that there is always something new to discover each year. (click to expand)
