May 29th Council session has been moved forward by a week.
The new date for the second meeting of May will now be next Tuesday, May 23rd, the first day back to work following the May long weekend.
The Council session will also feature this month's opportunity for the public to ask questions or raise concerns with Council members through the Committee of the Whole process for that evening.
No explanation was offered up in the notice to provide any background for the public as to why the set schedule had to be readjusted.
Before they make it to the Re-scheduled Regular session, Council will host a Closed session scheduled for 4 PM tomorrow.
Council is making use of Section 90.1 of the Community Charter as part of the Closure the Public notice:
90.1 (c) labour relations or other employee relations; and (e) the acquisition, disposition or expropriation of land or improvements, if the council considers that disclosure could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality.
It marks the ninth time this year so far that they have used the Closed Session option to discuss civic business.
Last week Councillor Blair Mirau made note of the frequency of those sessions and has requested City staff to put the topic on the discussion list for the May 23rd Regular, Open Council session.
