Curtain Goes up tonight for Skeena Zone Theatre Festival

It's almost show time at Prince Rupert's Tom Rooney Play House
The Skeean Zone Theatre Festival starts tonight.

Three nights, three shows, all taking place in one venue ...

Prince Rupert's Harbour Theatre is playing host to some regional drama this weekend, as the local thespians along with Theatre BC present the Skeena Zone Theatre Festival.

It makes for a triple play ... of plays with theatre companies from Terrace and Kitimat, joining Harbour Theatre to bring productions to life at the Tom Rooney Playhouse.

Toast and Jam opens up the event tonight, as Prince Rupert's actors provide for the festival ice breaker, exploring the various elements that make for life of room mates.

Friday night,  The Terrace Little Theatre holds the stage with Marion Bridge, a drama which examines how three sisters come together at the end of their mother's life.

The Festival finale is Saturday when the Cue Players of Kitimat present two productions, "My Financial Career" which puts on display a mans fear and misturt of the bank as an institution.

The Kitimat troupe also will bring "Grace and Glorie" to the stage,  it features the back and forth exchanges of a sentimental odd couple.

Show time each night is 8PM, with the doors to the Tom Rooney playhouse swinging open one half prior to the curtain rising.

Tickets are fifteen dollars per night, available from Homework in Cow Bay, or at the door of the Playhouse on Third Avenue East.

The Skeena zone Festival has been brought to the stage thanks to the sponsorship of Homework, Prince Rupert Arts Council, Province of British Columbia, Canada On Stage, Theatre BC and the Inn of the Harbour.

The winning play, as determined by adjudication, will move on to perform in July in Veronon as part of the Theatre BC's Destination Mainstage Festival.

That event takes place from June 30 to July 8.

You can keep up to the events from Harbour Theatre through their Facebook page.
