Annual Prince Rupert Thanksgiving Food Drive set for Saturday

The annual BC Thanksgiving
Food Drive takes place this Saturday
With the Thanksgiving holiday of October fast approaching, organizers of the North Coast's annual Thanksgiving Food Drive will be taking to the streets this Saturday collecting non-perishable food items to help fill some community cupboards next month.

This week, organizers have delivered plastic bags for use as part of their Saturday rounds, asking residents of the region to fill the bag with goods and to leave them on their doorsteps by 9:30.

Those criss-crossing the city will not be ringing any doorbells on collection day and they aren't soliciting any financial donations, all they are looking for are some food items from your pantry or drawers for donation to those in the most need over Thanksgiving.

Some suggestions as to the kind of items they are seeking can be reviewed below:

A Facebook page has been created for this weekend's collection, where you can get more information about the event and keep up to date as the collection time arrives.

Should you find that your donation has not been picked up by 1 PM on Saturday, you can contact the Food Drive organizers at 250-624-2354, you can also make use of that number to find out more information or to volunteer to help out.

The Thanksgiving Food collection is supported by a number of Prince Rupert community groups, local churches and businesses across the city.
