Rampage make ready for Road Trek to Cariboo

It's only the third week of the new CIHL season and already the Prince Rupert Rampage first their first major test of the year, as the Rhinos make plans for the long journey inland and a pair of games in Cariboo country this weekend.

The Rampage will be looking to pick up their first win of the season on Saturday when they head into Williams Lake and showdown with the Stampeders at 7:30 PM.

Should all go well the Rupert boys might be able to steal four points out of the region when they put the wrap on the road trip in Quesnel on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM.

The task will be a tough one however, the Stamps are traditionally a tough team to play at home and will be in somewhat of an ornery mood having dropped their season opener.

The Kangaroos for their part are playing with renewed confidence this year and have jumped off to a fast start with a 2 and 1 record heading into week number three.

The team had a strong start to their season opener two weeks ago at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre, only to see the Kitimat Ice Demons collect on their chances in Overtime to take the opening night victory.

With the extra week off (to shake off the excess of turkey amongst other things) to work on some of the areas head coach Roger Atchison took note of from game one, the Rampage head eastbound ready to take on the challenges of the always tough Cariboo squads.

Leading the way through the tour of the Interior will be three Ramapge players who are off to a good start after game one, with Kory Movold, Cody Cringen and Jared Meers all among the listings of the top fifteen scorers heading into week number three.

While making some progress in the standings is the number one priority for the Rhinos this week, the trip into the Central Interior also allows them to play hockey tourists for a few days.

Their Sunday match up with Quesnel takes place in the new state of the art hockey palace the West Fraser Centre a facility which is already getting some strong reviews for both its visual look and the atmosphere that it offers up for hockey.
