Wolverine Terminals schedules North Coast Open Houses and opens comment period

The proponents for a Marine Fuelling Terminal on the Prince Rupert waterfront are making plans to take their project to the people of the North Coast, with Wolverine Terminals set to host two Open Houses later this month.

At the Open Houses, Wolverine will be outlining the nature of their terminal plans and receiving comments from the public related to their plans, that community engagement is part of the process of their environmental effects evaluation, which is part of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.

The comments received will assist the Federal Authorities as the seek to determine if the proposed service has a likelihood of resulting in significant adverse environmental effects.

The first Open House takes place on Tuesday, October 17th from 3 to 7PM at the Crest Hotel.

Two days later, Wolverine takes their presentation to Port Edward, with an Open House planned for the District's Community Centre on Thursday, October 19th from 6 to 8 PM

As part of the environmental effects evaluation, residents can submit their comments on the proposed project through forms that will be provided at the two Open Houses.

Wolverine will also be accepting comments outside of the two Open House opportunities.

Those on the North Coast wishing to contribute to the commentary process can do so through two other options.

You can get an overview of what the proposed terminal project looks like from the Wolverine Terminals website.

We outlined some of the key elements of the project with this item from the blog of September 8th.

Should it be approved, the timeline for the proposed development would see regulatory and final engineering requirements completed by mid 2018. Construction of the marine berth would start in early 2019, with delivery and commissioning of the two fuelling barges to come in mid 2019.
