Scoring explosion sends Rampage to victory in Terrace

The scorekeeper at the Terrace Ice Arena may be on the injured list this morning, battling a case of extreme writer's cramp after chronicling the on ice scoring surge between the Terrace River Kings and the Prince Rupert Rampage.

The Rhinos and River Kings combined for fifteen goals on Saturday night, with the competitive edge going the way of Prince Rupert, with the Rampage claiming a 9-6 victory at the Terrace Ice Arena, making for their second victory of the new CIHL season.

Prince Rupert's Brendon Devries accounted for a third of the scoring with goals in the first, and third periods to pace the Rampage on the night.

The River Kings jumped out to an early 1-0 lead but one minute into the game, however Jared Carter answered one minute later converting a pass from Calvin Johnson.

Devries found the net at the 3:30 mark with an unassisted goal, while his second came three minutes later with an assist from Mark Arnold.

Kory Movold also tallied in the first with an assist going to Jared Meers to give the Rampage a 4-2 lead after twenty minutes.

Period two saw the Rampage pull ahead for good on three additional markers, the first of the middle frame from Jared Meers with Jacob Santurbano and Cody Cringen getting the helpers.

Mark Arnold also hit the score sheet with an assist from Tyler Ostrom.

Cody Cringen brought the curtain down on period two with an unassisted marker at 17:33.

Holding the 7-4 lead into the opening half of period three, the Rampage built a nice cushion with Calvin Johnson converting a passing play from Mark Arnold and Brendan Devries at 9:41.

The final goal of the night came off the stick of Brendan Devries, his third goal of the evening assisted by Tyler Ostrom.

Brett Roth picked up the win for the Rampage turning aside 55 of the 61 shots directed his way, Patrick Leal was tagged with the loss in the River Kings net, with the Rhinos finding their mark on 9 of their 50 shots on the night.

The evening was a rather peaceful affair for the most part, with only 10 minor infractions on the night, split evenly between the two teams.
