Cowpuccino's the latest target in recent spurt of Prince Rupert Break and Enters

Thieves broke into Cow Bay's
Cowpuccino's in the early hours
of Thursday morning
The police tape has come down in front of Cow Bay's Cowupuccino's and staff were back to serving their customers their favourite cup of coffee by mid morning.

However a few short hours previous,  the early hours of the day had a completely different vibe to them, that after an early morning break in at one of the city's popular coffee shops.

Prince Rupert RCMP members were dispatched to the Cow Bay area just before 5 AM in response to a security alarm as a result of he incident, with the investigation continuing through the morning period.

Members from the Prince Rupert detachment have reviewed security video and say that they have a lead on a suspect.

The Cow Bay incident follows on the heels of two recent break ins at the Kaien Anti Poverty Society offices in the McKay Street area, the society which provides food, clothing and other articles for those in need has been targeted twice in the last month.

The First incident took place in the overnight period of January 2nd when the offices were cleaned out of a large volume of food that they had collected for distribution to those in need.

In addition to items for that program, the Society also saw some of the goods that KAPS uses for the monthly luncheons that KAPS provides at seniors homes in the community as well as their after school programs.

Following that break in, community members responded to lend assistance to help restock their cupboards and shelves.

However, that expression of community goodwill was quickly taken advantage of once again, with a second break in at the KAPS offices in the overnight or early morning period of January 22nd , in that incident thieves not only took food and other goods, but stole computers and other office equipment required for the day to day operations of the organization.

So far, the Prince Rupert detachment of the RCMP has not provided any updates on the status of those investigations.

Should you have any information related to any of the recent break ins across the community you can contact the RCMP at 250-627-0700 or through Crimestoppers.
