Rampage look to make run up the standings as season's end beckons

With nothing but home games left on the regular season scheduled for the Prince Rupert Rampage , the North Coast's CIHL squad is looking to make a run up the standings and build a bit of momentum as the prospect of post season play arrives at the end of this month.

The support of the crowd in the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre will help provide for some of that momentum as the Rhinos settle in for their final home stand of the year which gets underway on Saturday night, when the Williams Lake Stampeders arrive in town for the 7PM puck drop.

The Stampeders and the Terrace River Kings are currently engaged in a strong battle for first place in the five team circuit, with the River Kings currently holding a three point lead over the Cariboo squad heading into this weekends action.

The Rampage will then face the Terrace River Kings on January 20th with a season ending match up with the Quesnel Kangaroos on the schedule for Sunday, January 21st at1 PM.

The three final games provide the Rampage with the opportunity to collect six points in the standings and to set the tone for the first round of the playoff season to come.

The home stand also offers a chance for the Rampage fan base to return to the Jim in larger numbers than they have so far this season.

The nature of the CIHL schedule this year seems to have be such that the competition for audience had a greater number of challenges for the local team, with Rampage officials noting in December that there had been a noticeable decline in attendance figures this season.

The final two weeks of the regular season could provide the team with a good measuring stick as to the level of interest in the league heading towards playoff time and with an eye towards the future for the league in the region.
