Twin job opportunities put Help Wanted sign out at City Hall



Hiring time is back down at City Hall, with the City of Prince Rupert posting two Help Wanted listings this week for key positions with the city workforce.

One job listing highlights the quest for a Permanent full time Executive Assistant for the City Hall Administration team. The job description calling for someone that can support senior managers in a timely and professional manner, with a primary responsibility for providing high quality administrative and secretarial assistance to the mayor and City Manager in support of complex functions.

Among the duties for the position, scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements and organizing daily calendars.

The job ad suggests that to be successful, the candidate will need to be proactive in anticipating, as well as making the necessary preparations that allow the City Manager and Mayor to meet their deadlines.

Over at the City Public Works yard, the City is looking for the services of a Journeyman Mechanic, with the successful applicant holding the skill set required that will help to maintain, service and repair a wide range of Municipal vehicles and equipment vital to the operation of the City.

It's a full time, unionized position, which requires shift work and occasional operational overtime as necessary.

2018 has seen a slow start from the recent years past when it comes to posting civic job opportunities, with the most recent additions doubling the total so far.
