As the schedule now stands today, Prince Rupert will receive 2,501 fewer cruise ship visitors from projections for 2018, that as the Radiance of the Seas makes a change to its sailing schedule for the year.
The port call, which was scheduled for Wednesday, May 16th for the Northland Terminal was set to be the first cruise ship visit of the year.
However, in an information update from the Port of Prince Rupert, it was noted that the vessel's port call was part of a charter trip for the vessel and not part of its regular cruise season itinerary, and with charter trips, those that have taken out the charter can change their destination plans as they wish.
Something that those planning the Mid may journey seemingly have chose to do.
The new date for the launch of the 2018 season will be May 29th, when Windstar's Star Legend arrives in port, bringing its 208 guests to the Cow Bay area for their first glimpse of Prince Rupert.
The Port has updated their 2018 cruise calendar accordingly, providing North Coast residents with their updated guide as to the season ahead. The revised numbers now call for just over 10,000 cruise guests arriving in Prince Rupert for this years season.
Th 2018 Cruise season in British Columbia was launched this week with port visits to Vancouver, Victoria and Nanaimo, with large numbers of visitors expected to arrive in those southern destinations through to the end of September.
