CityWest, BC Hydro crews work into Thursday evening to repair damage following Industrial Park vehicle incident

Work Crews had a long day ahead of them on Thursday
attending to the aftermath of a two vehicle collision
that took place in the city's Industrial Park

A Thursday morning collision between an Industrial dump truck with a full load and a passenger vehicle in the city's Industrial Park made for a long day for work crews from CityWest and BC Hydro.

The incident which took place around 11 AM occurred at the intersection of Legaic and Kaien Roads, sending two people to Prince Rupert Regional Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Members of the Prince Rupert detachment of the RCMP, Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue and BC Ambulance Service all attended to the scene.

Once the injured were transported to hospital and the scene cleared, CityWest and BC Hydro workers began their work to rebuild much of the infrastructure that had been affected by the collision.

As a result of the incident, 100 people in the Industrial Park and a number of businesses in the area were without electricity for the remainder of the daylight hours.

Kaien Road was closed to through traffic at the Petro Canada Station, while flag personnel controlled traffic on Legaic Road and to the east of the incident on Kaien.

A small army of workers were still at work at the scene in some rather inclement conditions at 8PM on Thursday.

The RCMP has not released any details as to the cause of the crash as of yet and advise that an investigation into the matter continues.
