Minor temblor recorded off Vancouver Island's Ucluelet

A minor earthquake rolled along the west coast of Vancouver Island early this morning, with the 3.0 temblor recorded some 37 kilometres Southwest of Ucluelet.

Listed on the USGS site as having been 4.9 kilometres in depth, the temblor struck at 6:52 AM, though the impact on the region was minimal, owing to the low intensity of the event.

The gentle nudge as to the active state of the fault lines along the BC coast come as the Province increases its plans for Emergency warning and preparedness in British Columbia.

Yesterday we made note of the plans to roll out a new Emergency Alert system for mobile devices in May.

As we outlined earlier today, Emergency Preparedness BC is looking for an expanded participation rate in Tsunami Awareness week April 9 to 13.
