With a Gale Warning issued for the waters of Hecate Strait tonight and through the overnight period, BC Ferries has once again made a modification to its sailing schedule between Skidegate and Prince Rupert.

With the change, the Northern Adventure will not be departing tonight and will overnight in harbour at Skidegate, with the new departure time scheduled for 8 AM out of the Haida Gwaii terminal facility.

The vessel arrives in Prince Rupert and 2 PM and then will take to its southern journey to Port Hardy with a 5 PM departure from of the Fairview Terminal dock.

Hecate Strait and the other marine sectors off Haida Gwaii and  the North Coast are under a number of weather warnings this evening with gale force winds of up to 45 knots expected, along with seas of 3 to 4 metres

Today's change marks the second time this week that BC Ferries has had to revise its schedule owing to a weather situation, with the Northern Adventure having taken an early departure on Tuesday to get ahead of the fast moving extreme weather system from earlier this week.

You can find updated weather information from the Environment Canada website, while updates to the BC Ferry Schedule can be explored through the Service Notices Feature of the BC Ferries website.

You can also monitor the BC Ferries Twitter feed for updated information and links to the official notices of service situations.
