Running season returns to the North Coast with weekend event



The first of the major events for the 2018 Running season takes place this weekend, as the Rupert Runners host the 37th edition of the Prince Rupert Half Marathon Plus 8 race.

The event which is expected to draw a large number of local runners out for the day, will also see the usual complement of Northwest runners make the trip to the coast to get in their first competitive run for the year.

As it has in the past, the Event which takes place on Sunday April 8th, will start and finish at the Lester Centre of the Arts, with the half marathon set for a 10 AM start while the 8K course start time is 11 AM.

The runners take to the highway course that will travel along Highway 16 to the Galloway Rapids bridge rest area. Those that may be travelling along the Highway during the morning and afternoon period are advised to be watchful for those running in the event and to cautious as you drive through the race zone.

The Race Packet Pick Up is set for April 7th from 10 AM to Noon at the Civic Centre, or on Race Day Sunday at the Lester Centre from 9:15 to 9:45 AM.

Race day may be a damp affair, with the weather forecast for Sunday calling for periods of rain.
